Mohamed ElKaramany, phd

PARTNER & PUBLIC POLICY DIRECTOR

Dr. El-Karamany is a published scholar and an adjunct assistant professor of public policy at the American University in Cairo (AUC), with over 20 years of professional and academic experience in the fields of public policy, international development, and civil service. He obtained his PhD in public policy from Oregon State University, a Master of Public Policy from the AUC, and a Humphrey fellowship in public policy from the University of Washington in Seattle. Working in a number of public, private, and nonprofit organizations, he provided thought leadership and introduced social innovations in designing context sensitive programs tackling social inclusion, women empowerment, rural development, and malnutrition among children. Prior to joining Synerjies, Dr. El-Karamany was the Director of the Growth Lab at the Egyptian Food Bank where he served to transform the Egyptian Food Bank into an evidence based and impact driven organization. He is also a co-principal investigator in two impact evaluations conducted by J-PAL.
